The New York Knicks have made the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999. The very lengthy dry spell has ensured all focus is on the Manhattan-based team as they head into the championship series next week. While their on-court play is getting most of the attention, we can’t help but notice the team’s connection to Lucid Motors. Have you noticed the partnership?

These Two Knicks Stars Are Connected to Lucid Motors

Lucid Motors didn’t have a notable connection to New York until this season. Now, with the Knicks in the Finals, the connection is becoming more important by the moment. Lucid Motors announced a partnership with two of the New York Knicks’ biggest stars, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, in 2025. The collaboration launched alongside the New York Knicks’ 2025–26 season opener.

Brunson and Hart both explained why they opted to partner with the innovative car brand. Hart noted that the brand speaks to his own work ethic. In a press release, he said, “Success comes from pushing limits, and I see that same energy in Lucid.” Brunson echoed his teammate’s thoughts, revealing that the company’s desire to push itself to the next level resonated with him. The Knicks’ solid season and playoff run are coincidental. Still, we are sure Lucid Motors is enjoying the extra attention along with the team.

The company’s connection to the New York Knicks doesn’t stop with their partnership with Hart and Brunson, either. Timothée Chalamet, an avid Knicks fan, is also connected to the luxury electric vehicle innovator. In July 2025, Lucid announced a multi-year partnership with the iconic actor, naming him the company’s first-ever Global Brand Ambassador. Chalamet was first spotted driving a Lucid Air in 2023.

What Is Lucid Motors?

For those unfamiliar with the brand behind the partnerships, Lucid Motors is a disruptive player in the electric vehicle space. Founded in 2007 under the name Atieva, Lucid Motors’ initial focus was simply on powertrains and batteries. Nine years in, they changed direction, building out a luxury electric sedan that they were sure would wow the masses.

CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson, a renowned engineer who previously served as chief engineer of the Tesla Model S, spearheaded the project. Reception of the Lucid Air sedan was strong, all thanks to the wow factor of its stats and its sleek, futuristic design. The sedan hits 62 mph in under three seconds and offers over 500 miles on a single charge. Rapid recharging helps the luxury offering stand out even further from the crowd. While there have been software glitch complaints among early adopters, the company seems dedicated to providing a luxury experience.

Currently, Lucid offers two models, the Air sedan and the newer Gravity SUV. Its vehicles are assembled at a 500-acre facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. The state-of-the-art facility is the first of its kind and speaks to more to come from the brand.
