Why Travis Kelce May Have Seemed ‘Controlling’ in Recent Outing With Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce recently put their marriage dynamic on display while celebrating Kelce’s birthday. The couple got dinner in New York City. According to a body language expert, Kelce showed protective behavior while they were out. She noted that while some may see it as controlling, it showed he was looking out for his wife.
Travis Kelce is protective over Taylor Swift in their marriage
Kelce and Swift celebrated his 37th birthday at Torrisi in New York City. Celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.org said that Kelce was clearly trying to protect Swift when they arrived at the restaurant.
“When the couple arrives, Travis exits the vehicle first, waiting patiently for Taylor to arrange herself,” she explained. “When she joins him on the pavement, he gently takes her by the hand and leads her along, while using his physique to keep her safe from the cameras. Similarly, when they leave, Travis gently holds Taylor’s hand, as his form protects her from excessive attention.”
Honigman noted that this behavior could come across as controlling. In reality, though, she believes that he is just looking out for Swift.
“This may send the message that Travis is a controlling partner, but their hand positioning reveals that this is not the case,” she said. “Travis is vigilant, not smothering.”
A body language said Taylor Swift is dominant over Travis Kelce
Though Kelce wants to be protective over Swift, Honigman said that Swift is still the dominant partner in the relationship.
“Even though Travis is taking on the protective role during his birthday outing, turning his back towards the camera flash and shielding Taylor with his body, she is still the dominant partner in the marriage,” she explained.
Honigman believes that the positioning of their hands made this clear.
“When Travis takes Taylor’s hand, he sweeps her palm from underneath, placing her above him, both physically and mentally,” she said. “Knowingly and acceptingly, Travis is happy to take the lower position in their hand-holding dynamic.”
She doesn’t think that Kelce has a problem with this dynamic.
“Taylor’s favourite hand-holding position is on top. When she has the upper hand, literally, she feels like all is well in the marriage. Her dominance in their marriage is the way they both like it.”
He shared one of the best parts of his birthday
Kelce spoke about celebrating his birthday, noting that it was a fun day, even if he isn’t a big birthday person.
“It feels nice because I had a lot of people reach out and say ‘happy birthday,’” he said on his New Heights podcast. “And, yeah, it was a good day. It was a fun day. Got some food out here in New York. Went to one of my favorite spots — Torrisi. Got to hang with Tay.”
Kelce said that celebrating was made sweeter by the fact that the Chiefs beat the Raiders the day before.
“And the best news that I got on my birthday was that we got a victory,” he said. “That was the happiness I had around my birthday. I got the win going into the bye [week] and we’re 4 and 0.”
