Ex-NFL Star Reveals if Travis Kelce Can Still Play at a High Level Despite Hollywood Distractions
Travis Kelce has been talked about for a lot more than his play on the football field since he and Taylor Swift got together. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end started dating his wife in 2023, and although he was already an accomplished star in the NFL, he became a household name almost overnight. That’s because Swifties everywhere became interested in him.
Entertainment news outlets all over the world also began covering the athlete when he started dating the most famous pop star on the planet. Their relationship garnered so much public attention, and the two nearly broke the internet in August 2025 when they announced in a joint Instagram post that they were engaged.
Less than a year later, on July 3, Kelce and Swift tied the knot at Madison Square Garden in front of 1000 guests.
These days, in addition to being married to the famous pop singer, Kelce has plenty of things going on away from the gridiron. He has his popular New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, recently starred in Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall 2026 campaign, and has several endorsement deals. So could all of this amount to a distraction when he plays on Sundays, and even though his draft stock dipped a bit this season is he still an elite player in the league?
According to a former NFL player, who played in the league with Kelce, he can still play at a high level and have a tremendous impact.
Speaking on behalf of iPredicta, Paul Posluszny, who was a linebacker for the Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars for 10 seasons, told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “Travis Kelce can still play at a high level. He will have to adjust his game a little bit, but his relationship that he has with Patrick Mahomes, it seems that the connection that they have there is special.
“And he seems to always be at the right spot at the right time, exactly when he needs to be. That’s a unique combination that’s hard to come by. So I think he can still be a guy that can have a tremendous impact for that team, make the type of big plays that he’s made throughout his career.”
Posluszny added that despite who Kelce is married to and the Hollywood distractions, “I’m not sure where he’s at mentally, but I would say his social life is more visible to us now. But when it’s time to play, I think he’s fully dedicated to his team and his teammates, and he’ll be ready to go.”
After mulling retirement in the offseason, Kelce decided to return and inked a new deal with the Chiefs
