Documentaries come in many forms – films, television series, radio shows, and more, telling factual stories and reports.

The term “documentary” was derived from the French word “documentaire” in the 1920s, though the film form existed before then. In the late 1910s, documentaries made in Russia were often used as propaganda. In the decades since, the medium has evolved to cover everything from food, crime, travel, and more.
