TLC has a number of shows about weight loss. Two of the most popular are 1000-lb Sisters and My 600-lb Life. Tammy and Amy Slaton have largely been using Dr. Proctor to help them lose weight on 1000-lb Sisters while the people on My 600-lb Life see Dr. Now. Recently, some fans have been comparing the two doctors’ methods to see which is more effective.

Fans think ‘1000-lb Sisters’ star Tammy would lose weight if she saw Dr. Now

Over the course of two seasons, Tammy has actually gained weight and some fans blame that on Dr. Proctor’s more lenient approach.

“Dr. Now NEVER would have let Amy and Tammy have ANY sugary drinks or food on his diet plan at all and he’s pretty strict about no sodas, no juice, nothing sugary,” one person wrote on Reddit. “Amy and Tammy saw Dr. Proctor and HIS nutritionist allowed Amy to have one diet soda a day as part of her weight loss plan which was cut down from 12 sodas a day(which is an entire case a day…that’s a lot).”

Some fans placed the blame for Tammy’s lack of weight loss solely on her.

“Tammy couldn’t put in the work with Proctor and Smith what makes you think she’s gonna put in the work and effort with Dr. Now she clearly will not,” one person added.

Difference between Dr. Proctor and Dr. Now

Dr. Now has risen to fame on My 600-lb Life for his direct advice and blunt nature. His no-excuses method makes his patients take responsibility for their poor habits.

“The difference between Dr. Now and Dr. Proctor? Dr. Now wouldn’t be taking ANY of Tammy’s excuses and half measures in regards to her weight,” one fan wrote. “Proctor seems like a good dude, but he’s way too soft with both Amy and Tammy. I would imagine if Tammy met Dr. Now she would act a lot like Schenee (Murry) did in her episode of My 600-lb Life. Eyes rolling and huffing and puffing at every demand from Dr. Now.”

Some fans felt like TLC knew what they were doing by pairing Tammy with Dr. Proctor over Dr. Now, as Tammy may not have responded well to Dr. Now’s methods.

“I’m also thinking that if she had been seen by Dr. Now and because he is so straightforward and strict, if that would have just immediately scared Tammy off,” one person added. “He doesn’t take any BS and Tammy if full of BS. Lol I think Dr. Proctor was too soft on her, but maybe that’s what kept her going back to appointments and maybe Dr. Proctor was hoping by easing into it maybe she would make small changes in the right direction.”
