What happened during Season 1 Episode 8?

During episode 8, Hilary (Coco Jones) confronted Kylo (Jon Beavers) for posting her lingerie-clad cooking tutorial online, which went viral as the “thirsty chef.”

After initially convincing her to continue publishing the content due to its profitable nature, Hilary realized it didn’t fit the brand she wanted for herself and attempted to try something new. However, Kylo reminded her of the fine print, ultimately requiring Hilary to pay him $50,000 for breaking the contract.

Not wanting her parents’ help, Hilary stays at hotels as she tries to figure out how to pay off her debt. At the same time, Vivian’s (Cassandra Freeman) sister and Will’s (Jabari Banks) mother, Viola or Vy (April Parker Jones), visited the mansion for her son’s birthday. However, the visit brought up unresolved feelings between the sisters, as Vy felt abandoned by her sister when she moved to Los Angeles.

Additionally, she told Will the truth about his father, Lou, a choice Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes) fought against. Therefore, he wanted Geoffrey (Jimmy Akingbola) to keep Lou away from his son, an order the house manager initially refused. Will also approached Geoffrey and asked him to help him connect with his father, unknowingly placing him in a bind.

What to expect in ‘Can’t Knock the Hustle’

In episode 9, which also serves as the penultimate of Bel-Air Season 1, the IMDb description says the Banks family will attend a church service.

During the previous episode, Uncle Phil had difficulty getting another endorsement as the congressman brought up distractions, including Hilary’s “thirsty chef” content, a party that Will and Carlton (Olly Sholotan) threw, which resulted in police intervention, and Vivian kicking Angela (Scottie Thompson) out of Gayle Wilkes’s memorial.

Therefore, the aspiring district attorney is likely attending church with his family as a PR move to gain more support. Additionally, Will considers getting to know his estranged father, again unconsciously souring the once-tight relationship between Phil and Geoffrey.

Fans can also expect to see original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actors Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv) and Vy Smith (Vernee Watson-Johnson), who will reunite in this episode as members of the Art Council Board of Trustees. Bel-Air airs Thursdays on Peacock.
