Tom Holland, Antonio Banderas, and Mark Wahlberg may be the biggest stars on the Uncharted poster, but it’s Tati Gabrielle who’s getting some attention. Tati Gabrielle goes all out

According to Mark Wahlberg, he was immediately excited to work with Gabrielle, in particular. The two actors knew each other before filming started, and they immediately struck up a rapport. The co-stars recently sat down with Fandango to talk about their time on set. According to Wahlberg, Gabrielle immediately showed her competence across the board.

“She’s a badass,” Wahlberg said in praise of his co-star. “I mean, sure, her martial arts skills – all that stuff – are amazing, but her. I became fast friends before we even started making the film. So, anytime we got to just play off of each other.”

As such, an intense fight scene almost went too far. According to Wahlberg, Gabrielle took his advice to heart when he told her not to pull her punches. The result almost brought him to his knees.

“She was choking me out,” Wahlberg said. “She wrapped that thing around my neck a little too tight, but I didn’t want to complain. I didn’t want [Gabrielle] to know that I was bothered by it. You talk about a formidable opponent, not just physically but mentally and emotionally. She’s wonderful. It was cool to see that.”

Wahlberg didn’t let the on-set intensity go off the rails. Instead, he and Gabrielle used it to make the scenes look as realistic as possible. According to Gabrielle, this was thanks to her co-star’s commitment.

The Sully of the Uncharted video game franchise is a perennial mentor for Nathan Drake and the other protagonists. According to Gabrielle, Wahlberg took a similar approach. According to her, his willingness to put up with her no-holds-barred approach to fight scenes made them better on set, and in turn, on the final product.

“Mark became my uncle on set. He really mentored me through the whole shoot of this project. That scene, in particular, I feel like neither of us are cutting either any slack. He told me to go for it.” She did just that. Wahlberg praised his co-star’s commitment to her craft, and Gabrielle showered similar praise on him.

Now, fans of Wahlberg, Gabrielle, Tom Holland, or the source material can see that fight scene, as well as many more, at the theater today.

An Uncharted movie has been teased for a while. It’s been around so long that Wahlberg was initially rumored to play Holland’s young lead. The video games follow Nathan Drake, an Indiana Jones-style explorer who is involved in action-packed missions. The series is lauded for its exciting adventure-based combat, and the film also hopes to deliver that.

Directed by Zombieland’s Reuben Fleischer, Uncharted was not a critical success. However, audiences appear to be all in on this adaptation of an iconic game. Whether this becomes another forgotten gaming adaptation or develops a loyal following, Tati Gabrielle used it to bolster her star power and show that she could get in on the action.

Hard work goes into every movie, and performers like Gabrielle help bring this to the screen. Her work in Uncharted may not end up being her defining role, but it could be the one that people look back on when her star shines brighter in the future.
