The incident occurred on Saturday, September 12, inside a South Carolina eatery. Responding officers initially cuffed Brian, but released him without charges. His brother, Zach, was booked on disorderly conduct. He was released hours later.
Videos of the chaotic scene surfaced online on September 13. In the footage, a bloodied Brian is seen throwing a bar stool amid the commotion. While the brothers were initially quiet in the immediate aftermath, Zach eventually spoke to TMZ, telling the outlet he was frustrated by the rumors swirling around him and his brother in the days since. He declined to reveal what actually triggered the scuffle, saying only that he wanted to get his car back and move on with his life.
While Zach didn’t elaborate on the cause, a separate source told TMZ that the melee began after other patrons at the restaurant started blaming Brian for Panettiere’s death. Additional footage appeared to show Hickerson accusing the Greenville Police Department of leaking news of Panettiere’s death before it was officially confirmed. The DEA and the Greenville Police Department continue to jointly probe the circumstances surrounding her death, including the working theory that a fentanyl-laced oxycodone pill was to blame.
