From Disney Channel to Bravo star?

Christy Carlson Romano, 42, almost made that leap when she was tapped to join a proposed Real Housewives show set in Texas.

Christy Carlson Romano says ‘The Real Housewives of Austin’ was ‘really cooking’

“I was in the cast that was being pitched for The Real Housewives of Austin,” the Even Stevens alum recently told Page Six Radio.

“It was like, Loreal Sarkisian who’s the coach’s wife at [University of Texas at Austin] and the girl who is the founder of Poppi, Allison Ellsworth, and I think it was a bunch of really great girls. Becca Tobin from Glee, she was part of it,” Romano continued.

The actor, who was promoting her new memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star, said she and her castmates “were really cooking for a minute.”

Unfortunately, the show never got off the ground.

“Then it just kind of derailed,” she said. “And they did some weird one now, where I think it’s like, Texas wives, where they’re all swingers or something.”

‘Even Stevens’ star ‘can’t compete’ with Bravo’s new Texas-set show

Secrets, Lies, and Texas Wives is the working title of a new series Bravo greenlit earlier this year. Set in the “picture‑perfect town of Boerne where wealth, beauty, faith and family reign supreme,” the show centers on “a tight-knit circle of glamorous women.” But “behind the polished smiles and Sunday sermons” lies a world of “intimate relationships and forbidden romances that test loyalties and marriages, jeopardizing the town’s pristine image,” Bravo teased. A premiere date and cast for that show has not yet been announced.

“I can’t compete with that,” Romano said. “Who has the time?”

While The Real Housewives of Austin never materialized, Romano hinted that there would have been some drama between her and Tobin. While the two are friendly now, they clashed when they first met at a Dancing With the Stars charity event in Texas’ capital city.

“She’s still in Austin and to be honest, we’ve had really great interactions,” Romano said. “But I do think that if we had done the thing, we would have probably amped it up a little bit and had a little fun with it.”
