Collin Gosselin Claims Mom Kate Gosselin Stole $100K From Him and His Siblings: ‘Took All of Our Money’
Kate Gosselin used her kids’ reality TV earnings to fund her lavish lifestyle, her estranged son Collin Gosselin claims.
Kate Gosselin spend kids’ earnings on lake house furnishings, Collin Gosselin claims
The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum recently appeared on Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, where he opened up about his mother’s alleged theft.
“I want [my siblings] to hear this: I want them to know that, yes, she did take your money, she took all of our money, she took money from us,” Collin, 22, said “She actually furnished her lake house in North Carolina with the money she took from me and my siblings.”
This is not the first time that Collin has claimed that his estranged mother took money he earned when he was a minor. In a September 2025 interview with the U.S. Sun, which was published in its entirety in June 2026, Collin said he wanted to ask Kate “about where all the money disappeared in the court documents that I’ve been reading.”
‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ alum says he received ‘scraps’ from his mother
Collin, who is currently competing on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, said that money from the show had been put in a trust for himself and his siblings. But his mother has admitted to taking money from that trust for what she said were living expenses. Collin said that he’d received only a small amount of money from that account, describing it as “close to nothing.”
The children who lived with Kate after her divorce from Jon Gosselin received more of the money, Collin added.
“She portioned out to the kids who live with her like a lot of money, like a lot, a lot … she just threw me like scraps,” he said.
Collin has been estranged from his mother for years. In 2016, when he was 11, she had him institutionalized for what she has described as serious behavioral issues. In 2018, when he was 14, his father gained custody of him and his sister Hannah. Prior to being sent away, Collin says his mother abused him emotionally and physically, including restraining him in the basement with zip ties, an incident he describes in his new memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.
“You’re a burden, Collin! You’re a burden to this family!” he recalls his mother telling him shortly after he attempted to run away (via People). Soon after, Collin says he was sent to a residential treatment facility.
Kate has not commented on Collin’s book. But in a 2023 Instagram post, she said she had him institutionalized because he was a danger to himself and others, adding that he was a “very troubled young man” with a “distorted perception of reality.”
