The stars of TLC’s new series Double Lives of Suburban Wives might look like your average cul-de-sac resident on her way to carpool pickup. But behind the unassuming facade lies a hidden existence that would scandalize many.

“On the surface, it might look like we’re typical housewives. But we’re not,” one woman says in the trailer for the new show, which premieres August 9. “Behind our perfect suburban lives are the secrets nobody sees.”

These six woman are all actively involved in adult content creation, sometimes alongside their husbands. All live in the St. Louis area and have bonded over their shared experiences to build genuine friendships. But their bonds are s tested as personal struggles, competing priorities and differing perspectives create friction within the group.

Several cast members began sharing explicit photos and video due to financial pressure, they share in the trailer. Megan turned to her unconventional side hustle to pay off student loan, while one couple was on food stamps and didn’t have a place to live. Another dad realized that he was missing experiences with his children that he’d never get back. 

“I would wake up before our son,” he recalls. “I’d get back at the last hour of his day.”

To fix their financial problems, the stars of this reality series got creative.

“What can we do to make the most money that gives us the most time with our family?” one husband recalls asking himself and his wife.

But putting it all out there online comes with major tradeoffs. 

“I lost my job,” one woman confesses. 

Some have faced pushback from extended family members, while another woman admits she struggles to square her adult content work with her Christian faith. 

“I’m hiding such a huge part of my life,” one woman says in the trailer. 

And then there’s the pressure that the work puts on each woman’s marriage. One husband complains that he and his wife have a non-existent sex life, while a wife considers divorce after she catches her husband doing something of which she doesn’t approve.

Six couples star in Double Wives of Suburban Wives.

Tammy and Drew are the couple who started it all and are the ones everyone turns to when friendships strain and the dynamic shifts. But even they have challenges, as Tammy tries to balance her faith with the life she’s created, while Drew focuses on keeping their world in balance. 

Macy and Jim live in a small town outside St. Louis and have kept the truth about their life a secret from everyone they know. As the risk of exposure grows, they make a bold decision to take control of their story. 

Emily and Nathan’s content creation hustle was born out of financial instability. Today, they see it strictly as a business. Emily’s built a successful niche adult platform, while Nathan balances participation with his career as a drugstore manager and a variety of side ventures. 

Brianna and Phillip got into content creation as a financial pivot, but they quickly found success and became the wealthiest couple in the group. After a very public outing cost Brianna her teaching career, she fully embraced adult content creation. But the lifestyle is creating tensions with Phillip and fractures within her friend group . 

Megan and Tyler: Megan stared sexy side hustle to pay off student loans, but when her secret was exposed, it cost her the career that she loved. Now, she’s torn between her passion for teaching and the financial security adult content provides.  

Heather and Shawn have been married for nearly two decades and appear to have it all: a stable home, four children, and successful careers. But since 2019, they’ve quietly built a thriving adult content business that no one in their household, including Shawn’s live-in mother, knows about.  

Double Lives of Suburban Wives premieres Sunday, August 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
