Doug Mason Makes No Mention of Taylor Frankie Paul in His Post-Bachelorette Statement
Doug Mason was the winner of Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. It’s a season fans are unlikely to ever see, and Mason seems OK with that. He appears ready to close the book on that chapter of his life, and he’s doing so with a statement. While Mason mentioned his time on the show in his public comments, he never once mentioned Paul, and there’s probably a good reason for it.
Doug Mason finally speaks out after ABC pulled ‘The Bachelorette’ from its lineup
Mason, a contestant on Paul’s season of The Bachelorette, has been mostly quiet about the show, even as rumors swirled that he was the season’s “big winner.” Now, he’s ready to speak out. On Sept. 28, Mason took to his Instagram Stories to finally break his silence on the show, his experience, and everything that has happened since.
The 29-year-old stressed that he’s already put the show behind him and that he’s extremely grateful for the opportunity the series gave him. He went on to reference the friends he made on the show and the experience he got to have. But there was one person he absolutely did not mention. Mason was very careful not to mention Paul at all.
Their romance likely ended badly
Mason’s decision to leave Paul out of his statement has fans feeling confident that his romance with the Hulu star ended badly. While neither has commented on that, there’s plenty of proof the romance ended quickly. Paul revealed on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives that Mason proposed during the Bachelorette finale and she said yes. But according to Reality Steve’s spoilers, the couple broke up just a month later during a trip Mason made to Utah.
There was absolutely another man on the scene before their short-lived romance came to an end, too. Paul admitted that she and her ex, Dakota Mortensen, started texting immediately after filming wrapped, meaning her attention drifted from her new fiancé almost as soon as the cameras stopped rolling.
Paul covered the dramatic end of the romance during the Season 5 premiere of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. In a confessional, she called the situation “so bad” before explaining how things with Mortensen escalated. She confirmed she had been sleeping with Mortensen since coming home from the ABC show. She also noted that she was engaged to Mason at the time and had yet to tell him she had hooked up with her ex.
It’s unclear exactly when Paul told Mason. The relationship has been over for months, and both seem fine with that. Paul is currently focused on a complicated custody battle with the fathers of her three children, along with more career chaos. Mason, meanwhile, appears to be living a drama-free life.
