Taylor Frankie Paul Quits ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ Putting Show at Risk of Being Canceled
Taylor Frankie Paul is done.
On Monday, the MomTok star announced that she was stepping away from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
“My gratitude goes to all the networks that supported me throughout this and gave me the chance to return. However I don’t desire to move forward like this,” she wrote in the lengthy September 21 Instagram post.
Taylor Frankie Paul quits ‘SLOMW’
Paul has spent most of 2026 embroiled in controversy. In early March, SLOMW paused production after she and her ex, Dakota Mortensen, were reportedly involved in a domestic violence incident. Soon after, a video of a different altercation where she threw a chair at Mortensen surfaced online. That prompted ABC to pull Paul’s season of The Bachelorette from the schedule just days before its premiere.
The drama surrounding Paul led to Hulu reducing SLOMW Season 5 from 10 episodes to 5. Season 6 recently began filming, with Paul returning to the show. But last week, fellow cast member Mikayla Matthews quit the show, saying she didn’t feel comfortable being part of a show that gave Paul a platform. Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor have also hinted that they might leave the show after season 6.
In her post, Paul characterized her castmates’ criticism of her as “bullying.”
“Some of the girls know what I’ve been through and then to turn and collectively pile on with their ‘statements’ knowing there has been ongoing abuse through the system the last 8 months on top of what I’ve endured,” wrote the mom of three, who is currently embroiled in custody battles with Mortensen, with whom she shares a son, and her ex-husband Tate Paul, with whom she shares two other kids.
Will Hulu cancel ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’?
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that Paul had flunked multiple court-ordered drug tests, leading to her parenting time being cut. Shortly after her post on Monday, Paul changed her Instagram bio to say that her assistant would be running her account.
With Paul apparently stepping away from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the show’s future looks increasingly uncertain. In August, Hulu announced it had ordered 20 more episodes, to be spread across seasons 6 and 7. But with the cast in turmoil, it’s not clear what’s next for the series. If Paul steps away from SLOMW, Matthews and the rest of the cast may feel comfortable resuming filming without her. But it’s also possible that the off-screen drama could lead to the show’s cancellation. In addition to Paul and Matthews exits, two other original cast members –Debi Engemann and Whitney Leavitt – recently quit SLOMW. At some point, Hulu may decide to throw in the towel on SLOMW and focus instead on its upcoming spinoff: The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.
