Faizon Love Says He Makes No Money in New Child Support Battle
Faizon Love has until July 1 to figure out his finances in a child support case. He also has a felony trial looming. The character actor best known for his work in Elf was arrested on June 16 in California and transported to Florida to face contempt-of-court charges. The legal drama is all about child support, and you might be shocked to find out how much Love claims he’s made in the last few years.
Faizon Love is charged with contempt over a child support battle
Faizon Love will need to figure out a way to support his child, and he’ll need to do it quickly. According to court records, Love is reportedly in arrears to the tune of $250,000, and the mother of his child would like him to pay up.
While the mother of Faizon’s child insists he has failed to help financially with the child they share, he maintains that he is doing what he can. Tiffany Lee, the child’s mother, claims Faizon is withholding funds as a way to punish her, alleging that he once told her she’d never see a dime from him.
He alleges that he made absolutely no money last year. Love claims that it is nothing new, alleging that he has only worked sporadically in recent years. Faizon contends that his highest gross earnings in any of the last five years were just $13,000, and that he simply cannot afford to shell out $2,500 per month to Lee.
Love will need to submit proof of his earnings, or lack thereof, to the court by July 1. The 58-year-old’s most recent screen credits include the 2023 thriller The Last Stop in Yuma County, in which he played Vernon. In a detail that now reads as more than a little ironic, Love also voiced a character in a 2021 animated short titled F**k Child Support the Animated Movie. He promoted the short on Instagram and interviews, speaking of his own issues with the system..
The actor has a felony charge to worry about, too
While Faizon Love is a free man for the time being, he also has a felony case to attend to. Love is still awaiting trial in San Diego on a felony charge stemming from an August 2024 incident. Prosecutors say he tore a credit card reader off a Sheraton hotel front desk and threw it at a clerk, striking her in the head and causing a concussion. He has pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon.
That case is still very active. The judge in that case is weighing a diversion program, according to several sources. Still, a prison stint isn’t out of the question. The charge carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison if he’s convicted.
Faizon Love has not issued a public statement since his release.
