Kim Zolciak Defends Son KJ After Sex Crime Charges, Kroy Biermann Stays Silent
Former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak has defended her son KJ Biermann following his arrest on sex crime charges. A grand jury indicted the 15-year-old on seven felony counts regarding an incident from April. The prosecution has also alleged that Kroy assaulted an underage family member. Zolciak has ardently defended her son, but her former husband, Kroy Biermann, remains silent on the matter.
Kim Zolciak’s son KJ Biermann faces sex crime charges
Prosecutors allege that in April, Kroy locked a 14-year-old girl in the dressing room of a Lifetime Fitness and sexually assaulted her. They also allege that he went on to harass her about dropping the charges. He faces charges of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, and three counts of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16.
Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy also revealed that investigators previously found videos on KJ’s cell phone of him having penetrative sex with a family member under the age of 12. Per Page Six, McGillicuddy said investigators found “multiple encounters” on video. In them, she said KJ used “predatory, derogatory” language towards the victim.
“This would now mark the second time he has been charged with an offense of a sexual nature of a very serious kind which involves female victims,” she said.
He had been on court supervision since 2025 following the alleged incident.
On September 11, a judge granted him a $200k bond. He must wear a GPS ankle monitor, surrender his passport, and complete his schooling virtually. He also cannot use a cell phone, post on social media, or contact the victim.
What have his parents said?
After KJ’s arrest, Zolciak spoke out in his defense. She called the allegations false.
“The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling,” she told E! News in a statement. “He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged.”
She also said that he passed a polygraph, and that none of his DNA was found after an examination.
“False accusations can have devastating consequences not only for the person being accused, but also for genuine survivors of sexual assault and abuse,” she said. “Every legitimate allegation deserves to be taken seriously and investigated based on the facts and evidence. At the same time, no one should be publicly condemned based solely on an accusation.”
She added that she feels confident that the evidence will prove this.
“We remain confident that the facts and evidence will establish the truth, and we ask that people allow the proper process to take its course rather than spreading unproven allegations.”
At this time, Kroy Biermann has not made a public statement about his son’s arrest. Still, he supported him in court, where a witness said he looked “stressed.”
“Kroy just looked devastated,” a source told Page Six. “You could see it in his eyes. He seemed to be in a very somber mood.”
NeNe Leakes said Kim Zolciak is struggling after her son’s arrest
Zolciak and her former RHOA castmate NeNe Leakes frequently clashed on camera. Still, Leakes said she reached out to Zolciak following KJ’s arrest.
“I recently spoke to Kim, I think it was last week,” Leakes said on the Big Tigger Morning Show.
She said she wanted to check in with her about her daughter’s engagement and son’s arrest. Leakes said Zolciak is struggling.
“I just hit her up, wanting to know how she’s doing, congratulating her on [her daughter] Brielle [Biermann] and making sure she was okay with what her son [KJ] is dealing with — I know that’s a tough time and I know she’s not okay,” Leakes said. “So I wanted to reach out. And I did, okay? I reach out to a lot of these girls. We just reach out to each other. But we’re not in contact on the daily basis.”
