Joey’s bombshell confession could change his relationship with Kimberly forever.

In last week’s episode of Love After Lockup: Relationship Rehab, Joey revealed to his wife that two years ago, he passed out after getting high in the car, and that their two children were with him when it happened. He said that it was that incident that convinced him he needed to get sober for good.

We’ll see Kimberly’s full reaction to Joey’s confession in the October 23 episode of the We TV reality series. But based on this exclusive clip from the upcoming episode, she doesn’t take it well, leaving Joey to wonder if it’s time for him to walk away. As he spirals, fellow cast member Louie – who is also a recovering addict – steps in to offer some words of support.

“I’m proud of you. It breaks my heart to see you going through this … I’ve been there, Joey,” Louie says. “I see that you’re there. I know that you’re scared. I know it. And I give you so much credit for going as far as you have.”

“I didn’t have to say that today,” Joey replies.

Louie tells the other man that being honest with Kimberly was painful but necessary.

“You don’t have to do anything,” he says. “But you chose to because you know it’s the right thing. … you gotta keep it real with yourself.”

Joey wonders if the best thing he could do for his family would be to walk away.

“That’s why I said, like is it best for me just to leave?” Like, are they better off without me?” he asks.

Louie doesn’t have the answer to those questions. But he know Joey needs to focus on healing himself.

“Before you can have a normal relationship with anybody … you got to get right,” he says.

For cast members like Joey, being together with people like Louie who could relate to what they are going through was one of the most powerful aspects of the Love After Lockup: Relationship Rehab experience, Dr. Ish Major told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

“We had a group of people who understood exactly how each other got to this point … the people on the inside who had been on the inside, they’re sitting around a room where there isn’t that judgment, there isn’t that shame, there isn’t that ridicule because they’ve all been through the same thing,” he said. “For a lot of them the first time they’ve ever been in a room where nobody’s judging [them] and [they] can just be [themselves] and be at peace.”

Love After Lockup: Relationship Rehab airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on We TV. Episodes stream on All Reality.
