Peacock’s ‘Married at First Sight’: Adam and Marissa ‘Go Deep’ After He’s Accused of Avoiding Serious Conversations [Exclusive Clip]

In this clip from the upcoming 10th episode of Married at First Sight Season 20 (which drops August 6 on Peacock), newlyweds Adam and Marissa sit down to complete the homework they received from expert Paul Brunson, who wants them to stop joking around think about whether they really have a future together. 

Marissa realizes she and Adam need a ‘reality check’ 

The Seattle couple’s assignment comes after Paul called out Adam during this season’s first group therapy session. The MAFS expert accused the 31-year-old data analyst of being a “deflector” who refused to take the experiment – and his marriage to Marissa – seriously. 

Now, with just a few weeks left until Decision Day, Adam and Marissa are attempting to have a real conversation about their relationship. 

“Are you ready to be serious?” Marissa, a 30-year-old program manager, asks. “It’s 10 questions and I think it will help us with, like, our quality time.”

In a one-on-one interview, Marissa reveals that she took Paul’s words about her husband to heart. 

“I think I realized from Paul in the group session that we’re really bad about being serious,” she said. “I do think we need a little reality check that we only have three weeks left and that’s not a lot of time. So we need to focus more on the relationship.” 

Adam from ‘MAFS’ Season 20 says he’s more ‘complex’ than people realize 

“OK, let’s go deep,” Marissa says to Adam before asking him the first of Paul’s questions: “What’s an assumption that people make about you that’s wrong?”

“The classic one with me is people initially meeting me think I’m very surface level, that I just like to jet ski or work out and stuff,” he replies. There’s not a lot going on. But I feel like I have a more complex side with some intelligence that might be hidden.” 

“You do,” Marissa agrees. “You bury that intelligence deep.” 

But after Marissa gets Adam to open up a bit, he quickly steers the conversation away from emotional topics. 

“What’s something that you want to try sexually that you haven’t?” he asks.  

“Babe,” she says, laughing. “Babe, this is serious.”

New episodes of Married at First Sight Season 20 release Thursdays on Peacock through August 27.
