Prison Allegedly Probes Diddy’s Lavish Lifestyle at Fort Dix
Sean “Diddy” Combs traded a federal lockup in New York City for a federal institution in New Jersey last year. That might not seem like a huge upgrade, but a recent report suggests it very much was. Diddy has reportedly found a way to keep his lifestyle as lavish and comfortable as possible despite his prison term at Fort Dix. Now, the prison is said to be investigating.
Diddy is using his money to fund a lavish prison lifestyle
Diddy’s prison experience at Fort Dix is not shaping up to be typical. An exclusive NBC News investigation revealed that the former music mogul had figured out a way to maintain his pampered lifestyle, even behind bars. According to the investigation, four men who spent time in Diddy’s housing unit claimed he spent thousands of dollars to keep himself comfortable, including hiring a “staff” of other inmates to cook, clean, do his laundry, and give him massages.
Diddy is allegedly funding his “staff” by having people on the outside add money to the commissary accounts of the inmates tasked with his daily comfort. It apparently didn’t take him long to learn the ropes, either. Diddy reportedly started hiring staff members shortly after he arrived at FCI Fort Dix in October 2025.
The music mogul has access to contraband
Diddy didn’t just hire a prison staff. According to the new report, the record producer has found a way to get his hands on items considered contraband in the federal prison system. Sources claim he has access to a cellphone, liquor, and explicit photos from a former girlfriend.
The contraband claims are particularly troublesome for FCI Fort Dix. Under federal law, cellphones and alcohol are both prohibited inside federal prisons. The alcohol allegation could be especially problematic for Diddy, whose lawyers pushed for FCI Fort Dix in part because of its drug treatment program. Photos and videos have surfaced that appear to show him using a cellphone behind bars, but the other claims have not been independently verified.
Diddy has allegedly been moved to solitary confinement
It apparently didn’t take long for the prison to act on the new reports. According to TMZ, Diddy has been moved to the Special Housing Unit while the prison investigates the allegations. TMZ noted that the transfer doesn’t necessarily mean prison officials have concluded he broke any rules.
This isn’t his first stint in isolation. Diddy was first sent to the SHU in July after a physical fight, and that stay lasted nearly a month before he returned to the general population. His time at Fort Dix has drawn scrutiny before, too. In late 2025, he was reportedly investigated over an unauthorized three-way call that could have cost him privileges. Reports about Diddy enjoying prison wine surfaced around that time as well.
The Special Housing Unit, or SHU, is a solitary confinement unit that keeps inmates separated from one another. Sometimes the unit is used as punishment, while other times it is used to protect inmates who feel threatened. The Bureau of Prisons has not revealed whether or why Diddy was sent to the unit, as it is agency policy not to comment on individual inmates.
