Meet your Violet and Xanden.
On Wednesday, Prime Video revealed the actors who will play the two leads in Fourth Wing, its highly anticipated adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling Empyrean series of romantasy novels.
Esther McGregor will play the fiercely intelligent and often underestimated Violet Sorrengail. Emilio Sakraya will play the enigmatic and ruthless Xaden Riorson.
“So beyond excited,” McGregor wrote on her Instagram Story after her casting was announced. “Honored. Thrilled.”
‘Fourth Wing’ stars cast after a ‘worldwide search’
Yarros is 100% behind the Fourth Wing casting choices.
“I’m so grateful to our producing and casting team for conducting a thorough, worldwide search to find Violet and Xaden,” she said in a statement. “It will be incredibly exciting to see these talented actors, Esther and Emilio, bring our beloved characters to life on screen.”
“Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya are brilliant, magnetic actors,” said Lisa Joy, Fourth Wing executive producer, who will also direct the pilot. “We cannot wait for the world to see what they will do with these incredible characters.”
“Few stories have inspired the kind of passionate, worldwide fandom that Rebecca Yarros has built with Fourth Wing, and we know just how much Violet and Xaden mean to readers,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television, Amazon MGM Studios. “Esther and Emilio are rare and exceptional talents who bring something truly special to these iconic roles.”
In Fourth Wing, Violet Sorrengail’s mother, a famous general, forces her to enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College. There, Violet joins hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. The brooding Xaden is a powerful rider with whom Violet develops an intense enemies-to-lovers dynamic.
