‘RHOP’ Alum Mia Thornton Faces Felony Charge After Being Accused of Stealing $11K Worth of Furniture
Mia Thornton could find herself behind bars after being accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of furniture from a rental home in Georgia.
The district attorney in Fulton County has filed a felony theft by taking charge against The Real Housewives of Potomac alum, TMZ reported Friday.
Mia Thornton accused of stealing furniture from rental unit
The news comes a little less than a year after police arrested the Bravo personality on November 19 at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. At the time, police said that Thornton and a man named Jared McGriff moved out of their rental in the middle of the night on October 28 and “took all of the furniture which was in the unit prior to their move in as well as the TV which was on the wall.” The property the pair allegedly made off with was worth $11,000.
In Georgia, theft by taking of property worth between $5,000 and $25,000 is punishable by up to 10 years in jail. However, a judge has the option to treat the offense as a misdemeanor.
Thornton appeared on RHOP in seasons 6 through 9. She has not commented directly on her legal issues. But shortly after her arrest last year, she shared a birthday tribute to herself on Instagram where she described herself as “delicate, disciplined, [and] divinely protected.”
“Another year around the sun, and I’m still standing en pointe — balanced, resilient, and blessed,” she wrote. “I’m embracing this next chapter with softness and strength. Life will test you, but grace and self-awareness always win. Thank you to everyone who’s shown love as I continue to grow, learn, and elevate.”
‘RHOP’ star previously reacted to Wendy Osefo’s arrest
Thornton is not the only RHOP cast member to find herself in trouble with the law in recent years.
In February 2025, Karen Huger began serving a two-year sentence (with one year suspended) following her conviction on DUI charges; she was released in September 2025 after having her time reduced for good behavior.
In October 2025, Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested after being accused of insurance fraud. The couple allegedly faked a break-in at their Maryland home and them reported fictitious losses to their insurer. The Osefos are scheduled to go to trial in January 2027.
In an Instagram Live posted a few weeks before her own arrest, Thornton reacted to the allegations against Wendy.
“I’m shocked … I’m very, very shocked. Because I thought Miss Four Degrees had it together,” she said. “I thought she had it together. Isn’t Eddie an attorney, for heaven’s sake?
