Taylor Swift Shows That She’d Rather Watch Travis Kelce Play Football Than Attend Hollywood Events
Taylor Swift was one of the many celebrity guests who attended the 2026 Academy Museum Gala. The pop star stunned on the red carpet at the Oct. 17 event in an ice-blue Dior gown designed by Jonathan Anderson. The strapless, floor-grazing ballgown featured delicate pleating, an exaggerated hip silhouette, and a laced-up corset detail down the front bodice accented by an oversized, crystal-embellished bow.
The next night, Swift traded in her glam look for a vibrant red outfit as she attended the Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers to support her husband, Travis Kelce. And an expert noticed a major difference between when Swift was watching Kelce play and when she attended the Hollywood function.

He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.” Now, Stanton frequently offers his expert analysis on high-profile public figures.
Speaking on behalf of Covers, Stanton told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, “When we see Taylor supporting Travis at football games, she often appears to be in a heightened emotional state. She’s incredibly animated, with her mouth and eyes wide open, displaying what I interpret as genuine excitement, joy, and happiness. These are particularly significant expressions because we don’t often see Taylor displaying such exaggerated facial movements during her more formal public appearances.
“The main difference between Taylor’s body language at the Academy Museum Gala and when she’s supporting Travis at football games is that, at the gala, she’s effectively on duty. She’s in performer mode, where her gestures and movements are much more controlled and deliberate. She’s also naturally going to be more conscious of how she’s presenting herself to an audience and the cameras around her.”
Stanton continued, “At the football game, however, we see a much more natural, unfiltered version of Taylor, where she’s able to react spontaneously without the same pressure to perform. Interestingly, Taylor actually demonstrates greater levels of enthusiasm when she’s off duty. When we look at the speed at which she’s clapping and cheering Travis on, she’s releasing an enormous amount of energy.
“Her entire face is engaged, and she’s displaying almost frenetic levels of excitement, despite not being the center of attention. We also see her spontaneously hugging the people around her, which suggests she’s completely caught up in the moment and feels at ease in her environment.”
The expert added, “Another interesting gesture is the way Taylor points towards or shows off her ring finger. She’s made similar gestures previously, and I think it’s become something of a signal between the two of them, although perhaps not such a secret one anymore. What’s significant is that she appears to make this gesture during moments of heightened excitement and happiness.
“I interpret it as a display of pride in her relationship, almost as though she’s instinctively drawing attention to something that means a great deal to her. It’s become something of a tell for Taylor when she’s feeling particularly proud or happy.”
Stanton concluded, “Ultimately, I think Taylor is deeply passionate about both her career and her relationship, but we see that enthusiasm expressed in two very different ways. When she’s working, she’s much more controlled and conscious of her movements, whereas [at the football], her energy is much rawer and less filtered. She’s able to live in the moment, and her wide eyes, open-mouthed expressions, and spontaneous celebrations all suggest a genuine sense of joy and contentment.”
