Taylor Swift ‘Isn’t Sorry’ She Skipped the Emmys, Said Body Language Expert

At this year’s Emmys ceremony, Taylor Swift surprised the audience when she appeared in a pre-recorded segment with host Mariska Hargitay. Despite this, she did not attend the ceremony itself. According to a body language expert, Swift did not appear to have any regrets about missing out.

In a pre-recorded sketch for the Emmy Awards, Hargitay and her Law & Order: Special Victims Unit team attempted to solve the mystery of whether or not Swift would appear at the Emmys.

“Now, in order to crack a Swiftie case, you got to think like a Swiftie because the Swifties think that everything is a clue to what she’ll do next,” Hargitay said.

They attempted to connect Swift to some of the night’s nominees. Suddenly, a new voice chimed in.

“Hey guys, this isn’t adding up.” 

The camera then panned to Swift. She continued to speak to the team as they tried to solve the mystery. At the end of her investigation, Hargitay concluded: “Taylor Swift will not be at the Emmys.”

“Maybe she’s going to do one of those cool pre-taped sketch things to support the host,” Swift responded.

Celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.org noted that Swift took her role in the sketch seriously.

“Taylor’s performance in the skit is focused, specific and perfunctory,” she said. “She reads her lines and hits her marks to fit with the sketch, but there’s absolutely nothing added. Not a hint of a knowing smile, not a tiny move out of place, Taylor performs exactly what she agreed to do, and nothing more.”

While Honigman believes Swift was happy to support her friend Hargitay, she didn’t have any particular interest in the Emmys.

“This stiff, colour-by-numbers performance indicates that, while she’s happy to be a supportive friend to Mariska Hargitay, she isn’t sorry that she’s not there at the Emmys in person,” she said. “She’s literally just doing her friend a favour.”

She said this was even clearer after seeing Swift’s exuberant energy while watching Travis Kelce play football.

“In contrast, watching her husband play at the Chiefs vs. Broncos game, Taylor is animated, enthusiastic, and present, moving every muscle in her face while chatting to Tom Cruise and jumping for joy when her husband completes a run.”
