Timothée Chalamet’s Kalshi Advertisement Increases Negative Sentiment Around Him
Timothée Chalamet is currently appearing in an ad campaign for Kalshi, an exchange and prediction market. The company filmed three ads with the actor, including one filmed by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren. While the creative agency that partnered with Kalshi to create the ads said they looked forward to working with Chalamet, most people don’t like to see him in these commercials.

Creative agency es muy good and Kalshi teamed up to create three ads starring Chalamet. They were shot on 35mm.
“From the start, we didn’t want this to feel like a typical ad, and what made that possible was Timothée,” Steve Gonzalez, the founder and executive creative director at es muy good, told Little Black Book. “He came to Kalshi with a vision, and together with our production partners, we were able to create this string out film.”
Gonzalez added that he thought Chalamet’s likeability would benefit the ads.
“He was invested in every detail, from the storytelling down to the choice to shoot on 35mm. At the end of the day, it’s Timothée Chalamet,” he said. “People love him for his authenticity and passion, and he doesn’t do anything halfway. Working with someone who brings that level of intention to a project was an amazing opportunity, and we think that energy resonates in every frame.”
The majority of people don’t like Timothée Chalamet’s Kalshi ad
Though Gonzalez felt confident that Chalamet would bring a lot to the ad campaign, people don’t seem to like the ads. Research by Casino.org found that nearly 60% of Americans had a negative view of the ads. In addition, negative public opinion about Chalamet increased by 180% after the campaign launched.
Over a quarter of Americans believe that celebrities shouldn’t promote prediction market platforms. There were also nearly five times as many people who strongly oppose celebrity prediction market endorsements. Only 3.7% of Americans believe that celebrities give prediction market platforms “credibility.”
What are people saying about the ads?
Many people expressed confusion that Chalamet would appear in advertisements. Chalamet has discussed his ambitions as an actor, and he has already received three Academy Award nominations for Best Actor.
“I thought that he only wanted to do high art,” noted one Reddit user.
“Won’t do TV shows but will do gambling ads hmmm,” added someone else.
Others noted that seeing Chalamet partner with a gambling platform disappointed them.
“I lose all respect (if I ever had it) for any celebrity taking huge paydays to promote sports betting, these prediction type bets, and crypto,” wrote one person. “I didn’t have lots for Timmy in the first place but now I have none.”
Many people outright opposed ads for prediction markets in general.
“These betting ads are so overdone and shameless,” wrote one person.
Still, people noted that Chalamet likely received a huge paycheck to appear in the ad campaign.
