Ellen Pompeo is an American actor and producer who was best known for her role as Meredith Grey on ABC's long-running medical drama, Grey's Anatomy. After booking a L'Oreal ad, Pompeo made her TV debut in NBC's Law & Order. She went on to guest star in other TV shows, including Strangers with Candy, Strong Medicine, and Friends. Her film debut was in the 1999 romantic comedy Coming Soon. After a string of minor roles, the actor gained recognition for her role in Moonlight Mile — before getting cast on Grey's Anatomy, which has been airing since 2005. Ellen Pompeo has been among the world's highest paid actors since 2017. She has snagged a Screen Actors Guild Award and a nomination for a Golden Globe Award, among other accolades.
