The Chi is an American coming-of-age drama series airing on Showtime and BET. The TV show is set in Chicago’s South Side, a notoriously rough neighborhood where the residents form bonds over their circumstances, experiences, and desire for connection.

Pronounced “the-shy,” the series focuses on Emmett, Kevin, Papa, and Jake — played by actors Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Shamon Brown, and Michael Epps — a group of young men trying to make their way in the world.

The show, created by Emmy Award winner Lena Waite, is known for its authentic depiction of life in the South Side, with an eye for nuance and well-developed characters. It has earned mostly positive reviews.
