Amy and Tammy Slaton seem close to their siblings now on 1000-lb Sisters. In fact, their brother Chris Combs has been Tammy’s accountability partner in her quest to lose weight, and their sister, Amanda, is going to accompany them on a family vacation on this season of the TLC show. So, if the Slatons are so close to their family members, why weren’t they at Amy’s wedding?

Fans wonder if the relationships on ‘1000-lb Sisters’ are fake

Fans who are rewatching the show have started to notice some cracks in Amy’s relationship with her siblings.

“Question – the sisters, brother Chris and other immediate family (other than the Evil Witch mother) were entirely absent from season 1,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Even at Amy’s wedding, not listed as being the ‘few.’ Only Michael’s sister was at the bachelorette party. Anyone know why they were not in S1 but seem to be highly involved in S2?”

One fan responded that the money the show pays probably influenced the siblings to get involved.

“Agreed, I feel like this is the only right answer,” one viewer added. “I genuinely felt bad for Amy at her wedding.”

“I think it’s $$$$$$$ and also some burned bridges…like Amy said this season that Tammy has lived with every member of the family at some point and she got kicked out of every place…so maybe they were too sick of her s*** in season 1,” another person wrote.

“I know in the past when I used to watch Amy and Tammy and I believe they lived with him, he didn’t like being on camera,” one user commented. “Maybe that sweet TLC money overcame any shyness. I don’t think they get that much but for Kentucky it’s probably a lot.”

One fan revealed that Combs had been more active than some fans may think.

“Actually, I noticed in the last episode of season one you can see Chris,” one person wrote. “He was at that party they hosted. I hate thinking they’re just in it for the money but I think Chris has a good heart, so maybe they were testing the waters to see where the show would go before they brought all the family in.”

Tammy didn’t attend Amy’s first wedding

Fans may have seen Tammy at Amy’s wedding on the TLC show but that was not Amy’s first wedding. Amy and Mike Halterman originally married off-camera. That time, Tammy was not there. According to SoapDirt, Tammy was taking diet pills at the time that hurt her stomach so badly that she could not attend Amy’s wedding. Unlike her brother Chris, Tammy did make it to the televised wedding.
