Criminal Minds may be over, but it hasn’t stopped fans from discussing it on social media. Fans recently weighed in on who “is a worse pairing” romantically with the options of SSA Jennifer Jareau (A.J. Cook), or JJ, with Aaron “Hotch” Hotchner (Thomas Gibson), or JJ and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler).

The trio worked together for a number of years as integral members of the team. Hotch was the Unit Chief for a while, serving directly over JJ and Reid at the Behavioral Analysis Unit catching the unsubs all across the country. They all worked well together, and there was no hint of something more between Hotch and JJ, as Hotch was her superior and nothing more.

But when it comes to JJ and Reid, fans will recall that these two are best friends with what some would call chemistry. In the finale of season 14, JJ revealed to Reid that she’d always loved him while they are held at gunpoint. Many fans weren’t on board, and in the final season, the book was closed on that scenario. Although JJ was being honest about her feelings, she wasn’t about to leave her husband, Will (Josh Stewart), for Reid in the end.

On September 1, 2021, a fan on Reddit made a poll titled, “Which is a worse pairing?” The options are “Jotch (JJ and Hotch)” or “Jeid (JJ and Reid).” 566 people took part in the poll, and the results speak for themselves. 372 people voted for JJ and Hotch, and that pairing is the winner. JJ and Reid only received 194 votes. It looks like fans chose JJ and Hotch as being the worse choice when it comes to the romantic pairings. Fans seem to not like them together even more than they don’t like JJ and Reid together.

Some Criminal Minds fans weighed in with their own thoughts on the interesting topic as well. One fan isn’t on board with relationships between team members. “Any and all of them,” a fan said. “No intrateam relationships!”

One fan didn’t see JJ and Reid making it long-term. Plus, they don’t seem to be a fan of JJ and Hotch either. “I just never saw Reid and JJ working out idk why. They both obviously cared about each other, but I honestly never saw it happening and definitely not Hotch and JJ.”

“Sorry, they’re both equally bad,” another fan weighed in.

A fan sees JJ and Reid like a brother and sister

‘Criminal Minds’: Fans Weigh in on ‘Who Was the Best and Worst Profiler’

A fan sees JJ and Reid just like siblings, and some fans would agree with that. These two treat each other like brother and sister at times, so it isn’t a stretch.

“Reid and JJ feel more sibling-like to me!!” a fan said

One fan calls a JJ and Hotch pairing “so wrong.” They worked together professionally with Hotch overseeing JJ, so it probably wouldn’t be allowed had they tried to date at that time anyways. “JJ and Hotch is so wrong my brain can’t process it,” they said.

Criminal Minds fans definitely have opinions when it comes to which pairing is worse, JJ and Hotch or JJ and Reid. People chose JJ and Hotch as being the worse choice.
