Melissa Gorga and the ladies of Real Housewives of New Jersey aren’t the only reality stars in the garden state. There’s also the cast of Jersey Shore, but fans shouldn’t expect the most famous face from the MTV series to show up on RHONJ anytime soon. According to Gorga, Andy Cohen will not let Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi appear on Watch What Happens Live, much less add her to the RHONJ cast.

Melissa Gorga and Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi have been friends for years

Speculation began back in 2015 that Gorga and Polizzi were friends when they showed up on Instagram together having a “liquid lunch.” The RHONJ star owns a shore house in the quiet beach town of Toms River, New Jersey. And up until recently, so did Polizzi.

The two ladies have been known to hang out regularly, and sometimes they bring their kids and significant others along. In 2017, Polizzi posted photos on Instagram that featured the two families together enjoying “shore life.”

“What a crew. #Shorelife #LotsOfVodka #WeRanOutOfIce #JesusTakeTheWheel,” the Jersey Shore star wrote in the caption.

Rumors swirled that about the ‘Jersey Shore’ star joining ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’

In September 2020, an RHONJ fan account reported that Polizzi was joining the Housewives cast. But the Jersey Shore star immediately shot down the rumor, saying she had no idea where that news came from.

Jersey Shore fans convinced Snooki is joining RHONJ after star is spotted in the same town as Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga!” read the post from @rhonjobsessed.

In the comments, Polizzi wrote, “Idk how this started but I have not been asked to be a Housewife, Sowwyyyyy.”  Under Polizzi’s comment, Gorga wrote “Damn it!”

Melissa Gorga says Andy Cohen won’t let Snooki on ‘WWHL’ or ”RHONJ’

During a recent episode of her podcast Melissa Gorga on Display, the mom-of-three dished about Polizzi and why she would never appear on Real Housewives of New Jersey. Gorga explained that Polizzi wouldn’t be joining the cast anytime soon because of Bravo boss Andy Cohen.

When her podcast guest, Danny Pellegrino, asked Gorga if Snooki had ever been considered for the RHONJ cast, she revealed that Cohen was the reason the Jersey Shore star wasn’t part of the Bravo series. Gorga also dished that Polizzi told her Cohen wouldn’t even accept her anymore for Watch What Happens Live.

Andy Cohen is ‘just not having it’

Gorga told Pellegrino that “Andy Cohen gives her [Snooki] such a hard no…he’s just like ‘don’t even say it.'” Gorga says that it doesn’t matter to Cohen that Polizzi is now in her 30s and is the married mom of three.

“Whenever I would go to him and be like ‘hello! She’s married now; she has three kids, she lives around the block. She’s great for this, I think,’ and he just looks at me like ‘no,’” the Bravo star explained. “He is just not having it.”

Melissa Gorga understands Andy Cohen’s position

Gorga also raised a point in Cohen’s defense, saying that his decision is likely nothing personal. She explained that Housewives execs “typically do not like to cast other people who have already been on a different reality show.”

“They prefer to find an authentic lady living in New Jersey with a crazy life and a Bentley,” Gorga said.

Polizzi has also stated publicly that she’s not interested in joining the RHONJ cast. She told Page Six that she’s “terrified because some of those girls…they get into it.” She added that even though she’s on a reality show, she hates drama.

“I like positivity and I like just having a good time and going home. I just feel like that would be wild,” Polizzi said.

Season 12 of Real Housewives of New Jersey premieres on February 1 on Bravo.
