Power Book II: Ghost centers on Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) in the aftermath of his father’s death. Though Tariq is supposed to be focused on his studies as a college student, he’s found himself in the clutches of the Tejada crime family. Monet Tejada (Mary J. Blige) stands at the helm of the family. She rules her drug business and her three children, Cane (Woody McClain), Diana (LaToya Tonodeo), and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) with an iron fist. However, that all shifted when her husband, Lorenzo (Berto Colon) was released from prison. Lorenzo’s released set off a chain of events in the family that can’t be undone.

As the Tejadas embark on a new chapter of their life in season 3, fans wonder if Tariq and Cane will team up.

Cane Tejada is a loose cannon on ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

From the moment fans were introduced to Cane in the Ghost pilot, we knew that he would be a force to be reckoned with. A loose cannon with a volatile temper, the only person that could seemingly reason with him was his mother Monet. “Cane is off the chain, he’s real savage,” Blige told USA Today. “Monet’s not afraid of him, but everybody else is. She’s a savage, too.”

As we know, above all things, Cane is for his family. “When it comes to Cane, he’s all about family,” McClain told Complex. “His thing is family first.”  However, he deeply resents his parents Monet and Lorenzo (Berto Colon) for choosing Tariq and his brother Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) over him.

In the season 2 finale, Monet had Cane believing that he needed to kill Lorenzo and now that he knows the truth about his mother’s eldest son Zeke (Daniel Bellomy), Cane could become fully unhinged in season 3.

After all, Cane’s real name is Lorenzo Tejada, Jr. The name Cane came from his childhood nickname, “Hurricane.” “As a kid, he used to run around the house so much, he acted like a hurricane,” Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp said during an Instagram Live. Since hurricanes are literally disasters, we can see Cane spiraling out of control.

Tariq and Cane could team up in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3

As fans know, Cane framed Tariq for murder and tried to get him locked up in the second season of Ghost. It’s a betrayal that Tariq surely will never forget. However, as he plots his revenge, we believe the college student is smart enough to know to keep his enemies close.

Cane is known for his recklessness to it would behoove Tariq to keep the gangster close as he plots his revenge. When asked if the pair would team up in season 3, Kemp told her fans on Instagram Live to keep watching.

Will Tariq kill Cane in Season 3?

From the moment Zeke introduced Tariq to his family, there has been tension between the college student/drug dealer and Cane. The gangster can’t seem to understand why Monet trusts Tariq so much and being pushed aside in favor of his other Dru hasn’t helped things either.

In an effort to eliminate Tariq, Cane framed him for murder. It’s clear that Tariq doesn’t fear Monet, so we wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to kill Cane for revenge. However, it’s also likely that Cane’s own actions could be his undoing but we’ll have to see how it all pans out.
