Maleah Joi Moon and Cornell Young IV have undeniable chemistry on A Different World. The two actors play on-again, off-again couple Deborah Wayne and Shaquille Johnson on the hit Netflix series. But not everyone is convinced the pair are acting. Some fans speculate that the pair has taken their on-screen romance into the real world. 

Social media sleuths are convinced that the Moon and Young are actually dating. They point to photos and videos showing the two actors looking cozy and flirtatious at events, as well as a video where he presents her with a birthday cake.

Recently, Moon added more fuel to the fire when she shared a video of herself and Young posing for a photo – and gazing into each other’s eyes – in an Instagram post celebrating the news that Netflix had renewed A Different World for season 2. 

“Yall are not beating the allegations and I’m here for it,” one person commented. 

“Slide 9 is insane I love it lol,” another wrote. 

Others don’t care if Moon and Young are together in real life. But they do want to make sure that their characters are together in season 2. 

“If Shaquille and Deborah ain’t a couple in season 2 we gone have a problem,” one person wrote on one of Young’s Instagram posts. 

A Different World is streaming on Netflix.
