‘Love Island’: Sol Realized She ‘Made a Mistake’ During Pie Clash With Melanie, Says Body Language Expert
During the Love Island season 8 reunion, Melanie and Sol disagreed over how many times Sol was pied during a challenge. While Sol repeatedly said people pied her more than twice, Melanie claimed this was not true. A body language expert said that as the disagreement went on, Sol seemed to regret making her claims.
Melanie and Sol clashed over how many times Sol was pied during a challenge
During one Love Island USA challenge, Sol walked off in tears after getting pied in the face more than once. She felt that the other Islanders were treating her poorly for pursuing connections as a bombshell.
The challenge came up during the reunion. Sol claimed that she was pied more than twice, which Melanie outright denied. Reunion host Andy Cohen later clarified that production’s count showed that two people pied her.
A body language expert examined the disagreement between Melanie and Sol
The disagreement between Melanie and Sol over the pie challenge quickly grew heated. Body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.ca noted that Sol initially seemed disgusted with Melanie for challenging her.
“Sol curls her lip when she says that she got pied more than twice,” Honigman said. This curled lip shows contempt and disdain. She is wholly resentful of having to defend herself for making that statement. Sol’s curled lip suggests that she is disgusted with Melanie’s accusation that she’s a liar.”
As Melanie continued talking, though, Sol’s confidence seemed to wane. Honigman said that Sol seemed to regret making her claim.
“As Sol nods while she talks, her confidence wanes,” Honigman said. “She realises that she may have made a mistake, and she nods to try and convince herself.”
The disagreement between them went beyond the pie incidents
Melanie dug into Sol during their interaction. Honigman noted that she never doubted her claims against Sol.
“Melanie is having none of this, her finger is pointed and she sends a straight, direct arm move towards Sol,” she said. “Melanie’s moves are incisive, no-nonsense and accusatory. She’s one hundred percent sure that she is right.”
She showed a complete unwillingness to concede the point, unlike Sol.
“She opens her eyes wide and raises her eyebrows to indicate that she’s looking clearly at the situation and will not flinch or be gaslit,” Honigman said. “Melanie’s pointed finger shows that she is unwilling to negotiate or compromise. She is fighting for justice and honesty.”
Honigman said that Melanie discussed the incident with such fervor because she wanted to paint Sol as a liar. They clashed over their interest in Sincere Rhea.
“Melanie’s fervour and zeal are not about the pies,” Honigman said. “She’s determined to prove that Sol is a liar, which is why she makes it into such a huge deal.”
