Even though son Peter Rosello’s domestic violence charges were dropped, Alexia (Echevarria) Nepola from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Miami says her family was still judged by the public.

Rosello was arrested for battery misdemeanor in January after a fight with his girlfriend. The girlfriend presented with physical injuries and the police were called. In early February, Rosello’s attorney shared that all charges were dismissed against his client.

“After a pre-file investigation of the case by the State Attorney’s office, the decision was made not to file charges against Peter Alexander Rosello. There was no evidence to support allegations. The case was dismissed and is now closed,” Attorney Peter Heller shared in a statement with Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

Alexia son Peter’s charges were dropped but the court of public opinion remains

Despite Rosello being cleared of the charges, Nepola said her family was still judged. “Unfortunately, we were charged by the people’s court, so we’re always guilty, till proven innocent,” Nepola said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast.

“What hurt me the most was the fact that I had to listen to all that kind of stuff,” she continued. “And thank God. All the other [RHOM] girls can tell you and Todd, I don’t read the comments. I post a picture. I don’t even look back at how many likes, I don’t care. You know what? You don’t know me.” She added, “You don’t know my family.”

Alexia grew a thick skin even before ‘RHOM’

“So I’ve grown a thick skin,” she added. “Even before I did [RHOM], I’ve always been like that. You can see by the choices I’ve made in my life, that I’ve never given a s***. And now I give even less.  So I really don’t care what people have to say because nobody knows my life.”

“And yes, of course, I was happy and grateful,” she said about the charges being dismissed. “I know that Peter’s a kind loving human being and I’m very proud to be his mother. But when you talk the opposite, it’s hard to go through it.

So, I’m relieved that the fact that it’s behind us and that justice was served,” she added. “You live and learn.”

Peter struggled after Frankie’s accident, Alexia shared

In a previous interview with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Nepola said so much has gone on behind the scenes that RHOM fans don’t know about. She talked about the level of despair Rosello endured when his brother, Nepola’s youngest son Frankie was in a devastating car accident.

“You can’t judge my other son, Peter,” she said. “My other son, Peter, when he was going through his brother’s accident, people don’t know this. But he would tell me, is my brother going to make it?” she continued, close to tears. “It was like, ‘Mom, if my brother doesn’t make it like I’m killing myself. I don’t want to live without my brother.’ People don’t know what I went through. And still, so many years later, you know, I hear comments. I obviously don’t even read them. I’ve never been that person that really cares about what other people think because they don’t know my life.”

She also addressed how Rosello sometimes talks about what would have been if his brother hadn’t been in the accident that left him forever changed. “I feel like sometimes when it’s me, him, and his brother and the tears are rolling down his face,” she said. “Because he thinks like, ‘Oh my God, if my brother wouldn’t have had the accident, he would be like, you know, just like me.’ And doing music. I mean, even though Frankie still does music, you know, it’s different. He’s not 100%, we know that.”
