Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly is back on set in Montana for season 5. And the British actress admits she’s missed playing Beth Dutton. It’s been two years since she’s been in Beth’s boots — filming a season 4 finale that set ratings records.

After reading the first six scripts of the new season, Reilly says that Beth is going into it “feeling pretty good about everything.” But with the return of one Yellowstone newcomer, Beth’s good feeling might not last very long.

Kelly Reilly says there’s an ‘early dynamic’ is coming back in ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5

The Yellowstone Season 4 finale saw Beth cornering her adoptive brother Jamie (Wes Bentley) into shooting his biological dad, who’d ordered a hit on John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Beth, and Kayce (Luke Grimes).

She also took a photo of Jamie dumping the body, which puts him under Beth’s thumb in season 5. Reilly told TV Insider that Beth is now confident that “things are going to be looked after better” with the Montana attorney general under her control.

“There’s a bit of the early dynamic coming back into the show, of them having to work together,” Reilly reveals. “[Beth and John] are using Jamie to put things through that they wouldn’t be able to do. They need him working for the family. It’s like working for the mob.”

Kelly Reilly confirms that 1 newcomer is back and bringing ‘friends’

During the first four seasons of Yellowstone, the Duttons have done everything they can to keep their ranch, including plenty of killing and lying. They’ve got a lot of enemies, including Market Equities and their CEO Caroline Warner.

Australian actress Jacki Weaver made her Yellowstone debut in season 4 as Caroline Warner. And Reilly confirmed that she will be back in season 5 after promising Beth she would build a restroom on the land where the Dutton family home currently sits and send her to jail.

“Caroline is back,” Reilly said. “And she’s got friends. They understand what [the Duttons] are doing and they’re not going to take it lightly.”

Beth Dutton is enjoying married life in the new season of ‘Yellowstone’

After kidnapping a priest, Beth married her longtime love — ranch foreman Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) — in the season 4 finale. And she did it while wearing a sexy gold dress that she put on to threaten a man in prison. Reilly says that Beth and Rip are in a “beautiful, solid place” at the beginning of season 5.

“There’s something magical for her that this is now, finally, her husband, her person forever. Marriage for her is a wonderful thing. Has it tamed her? No,” Reilly shared, noting that Beth still “doesn’t give a f*** what people think of her.”

She added that becoming a married woman hasn’t made it more likely that Beth will allow orphan Carter (Finn Little) to call her “mama” either.

“That’s opening a Pandora’s box,” Reilly warned.

Yellowstone Season 5 premieres Sunday, November 13 on Peacock. Seasons 1 through 4 are now streaming on Peacock.
