Katy Perry’s Friends Raise Eyebrows Over ‘All-Consuming’ Trudeau Romance Pace

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were one of the most surprising celebrity relationships to come out of 2025. Perry ended her relationship with Orlando Bloom and was soon spending time with the former Canadian Prime Minister. She has said that she’s blissfully happy in the relationship. Despite this, some of her friends reportedly have concerns about the pace at which their romance has progressed.

While Perry and Trudeau have been together for under a year, she is reportedly already hoping for marriage.

“This would not be the first time Katy married very quickly, obviously it was a disaster when she did that with Russell Brand, but then look at her and Orlando, she waited so long to pull the trigger because she didn’t want a repeat of Russell and that didn’t work either,” a source told Closer. “It’s made her realize there are no hard and fast rules, so she’s decided to just follow her heart. She and Justin have been talking about this very seriously the last couple of months, it’s just a matter of finding the right time to do it.”

Both Perry and Trudeau have previously tied the knot.

The couple seems to be happy together. Her friends reportedly feel happy for her. Still, they worry that she’s rushing into the relationship, particularly because she recently got out of a lengthy engagement.

“People are happy for them, but there are also a lot of raised eyebrows because everything has moved so fast and so intensely,” a source said. “It seemed like almost overnight it turned into this all-consuming romance. She went from crying about the end of her relationship with Orlando to completely obsessed with Justin so it’s hard for friends not to worry that she’s just rebounding.”

While friends have reportedly tried to warn her against jumping into things, she is following her own timeline.

“No one is saying Justin isn’t a great catch, but it does seem rather fast to be planning a wedding considering she’s barely out of a ten-year relationship,” they added. “A few people have tried to tell her that she should slow things down before she gets married, but she’s not open to hearing it. She’s way too caught up to listen to anything that might burst her bubble.”

She described him as the love of her life

Perry has already spoken about her relationship in strong terms. She said that Trudeau has been a very positive force.

“I am very in love,” she said during the premiere of her concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour (per E! News). “Actually that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that.” 

She added that being with him has added a great deal to her life.

“Because I’m a little bit like a rainbow kite,” she said. “I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now.”
