Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly trying a new approach. A source described it as “controlled openness” rather than institutional secrecy. According to the Daily Mail, William and Middleton are “upping their game.” The source said they were seeking “new and authentic ways to connect with people.”

William’s appearance on Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast was one example. The Prince of Wales joined Travis and Jason Kelce on the podcast on July 3, 2026. He also surprised viewers with an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on October 23. William joined Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham, and Robert Irwin on the sofa.

Jorja Smith performed on the show and later joined Norton for a chat. William and Middleton attended Tom Cruise’s Digger premiere in London on September 22, 2026. Cruise later praised the couple. According to Extra, he called them “amazing people.”

William has also used sports to connect with people. According to Reuters, he turned The Mall into a temporary cricket pitch on October 13. He played alongside some big names. They included Joe Root, Ajinkya Rahane, Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara, and James Anderson. The event promoted his Earthshot Prize and celebrated cricket ties between Britain and India.

According to the BBC, William also praised rugby star Sir Kevin Sinfield’s humble nature and charity work. He called him a “top bloke” and a “good, honest, kind, decent northerner.” He also praised Sinfield for having “no ego.” William then made a broader point about people who constantly show off.

“That lack of ego is really important in a world that everyone wants to show how amazing they all are,” he said. He added that Sinfield does his work “very quietly” and “very subtly.” William also praised him for not wanting to be “the centre of attention” despite having “a huge impact.”

William presented Sinfield with his knighthood at Windsor Castle earlier in October. He was honored for his services to rugby and the motor neuron disease community. William and Middleton showed their support for Sinfield in September, too. They surprised him at Wakefield Trinity’s DIY Kitchens Stadium on September 29.

He was finishing the third day of his final fundraising challenge. Sinfield was running seven ultramarathons in seven days to raise money for motor neuron disease charities. The challenge was in memory of his friend Rob Burrow, who died from the disease in 2024.

The couple cheered Sinfield on as he arrived at the stadium. They also met members of the motor neuron disease community and Burrow’s children. Middleton called his efforts “so inspiring.” Meanwhile, William told him to “make sure you hold yourself together for another few days.”

The challenge began in Hull and covered all 12 Super League clubs. It finished in Manchester on October 3. King Charles III has also spoken about William’s ties with Oman’s Crown Prince, Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said. He mentioned them during a state banquet at Windsor Castle on October 20, 2026. Charles hosted Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik during his state visit to Britain.

According to Oman’s Foreign Ministry, Charles was  “especially delighted to see our sons” become joint patrons of the Jewel of Arabia expedition. He then spoke about “few happier symbols of success than a living relationship being passed from one generation to the next.”
