A body language expert weighed in on Jay’s behavior on ‘The Traitors: New Blood’

Body language expert Inbaal Honigman with Casino.ca looked at Jay’s behavior on the show. She noted that he has been very talkative with nearly every contestant. Honigman doesn’t believe that this is a strategy.

“Jay shares his suspicions with almost anyone who’s willing to listen,” she said. “So the question is, is this a game plan, or is he really that naïve? It is no game plan, as Jay’s facial expressions are completely open and honest.”

She said that Jay seems too excited to be playing. He seems to believe that he is correct, and is happy to share his thoughts with the others.

“When Jay speaks, his eyes are wide open, and eyebrows raised. He is like a child on Christmas morning, looking on in wonder at the unfolding game,” she said. “Jay nods as he speaks, fully believing that his suspicions are correct, convincing himself of the veracity of his inkling. He holds his hands up, palms upwards, in a way which shows that there’s nothing up his sleeve.”

Honigman believes that Jay is completely sincere in his gameplay.

“There are no protective gestures — no hiding of his face or body with an arm or a hand, no closed ‘blocking’ eyelids, Jay is holding nothing back,” she said, adding, “This is not a strategy. This is the best of Jay, and the sincerest. This is not a clever, complex tactic, this is Jay just shooting his shot and suspecting someone on a hunch.”

The Traitors: New Blood airs on NBC on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
