After appearing in ex-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky’s controversial flick mother!, Lawrence stayed out of the spotlight for a few years. She returned to film with Oscar-nominated Don’t Look Up. Jennifer Lawrence welcomed her first child in 2022
Jennifer Lawrence started dating Cooke Maroney in 2018. The relationship followed her breakup with director Aronofsky. Lawrence and Maroney, an art gallery director, quickly became serious. In February 2019, their engagement made headlines. Maroney and Lawrence decided not to delay their wedding and tied the knot in October of that same year.
While Lawrence keeps her relationship with Maroney primarily out of the spotlight, rumors swirled in mid-2021 about her pregnancy. In September 2021, her publicist confirmed the news. However, she refrained from speaking about her pregnancy, even as she did the rounds in interviews surrounding Don’t Look Up. She cheekily avoided questions about it on the red carpet. Lawrence even joked with Stephen Colbert as he tried to get her to discuss her upcoming addition on The Late Show.
In late February, news broke that Lawrence had given birth.
Lawrence admitted in 2015 she ‘definitely’ wanted to be a mom
Jennifer Lawrence has longed to be a mother for years, even in her early 20s. In 2015, while promoting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, Lawrence spoke to Diane Sawyer. In the interview for ABC, Lawrence revealed her thoughts on her future. “I don’t really plan on getting married,” she began. However, she added, “I definitely want to be a mother. I don’t really imagine getting married anymore.”
At the time, Lawrence had split from her long-time boyfriend and X-Men co-star, Nicholas Hoult. So she wasn’t sure about the whole long-term relationship thing. But clearly, she changed her mind, as she married Maroney just a few years after the interview with Sawyer aired.
Jennifer Lawrence even indicated she wants multiple kids
Not only did Lawrence admit she “definitely” wanted to be a mother, but she once opened up about how she envisioned having a family with multiple kids. In another 2015 interview, she divulged more on the subject. This time, she seemed more optimistic about marriage.
“I can’t wait to be married,” Lawrence told Vogue. She added, “I feel like if I find that one person who I want to spend the rest of my life with, who I want to be the father of my children, that I would absolutely not f— it up.”
Lawrence’s statement seemingly implies she wants multiple children. Ultimately, Lawrence didn’t wait long to meet her one perfect person. So it seems possible she and Maroney will expand their family again in the years to come.
