Has Olajuwon pushed Katina to her limit? Footage from the March 9 episode of Married at First Sight suggests his demands and criticism have left the season 14 bride feeling like she isn’t measuring up to her husband’s expectations. It leads to a rare display of tears from Katina, who previously told Olajuwon that she’d taught herself not to cry during a past relationship with a verbally abusive ex.

In the next episode of Married at First Sight, the show’s remaining couples sit down with expert Dr. Viviana Coles to talk about some of the issues they’re having in their relationships. For Katina and Olajuwon, at least part of the conversations centers around what he expects from his wife — and the way he speaks to her.

“It’s just his tone,” she says to Coles in the teaser that aired at the end of the March 2 installment of the Lifetime reality show. “I feel like someone’s beating up on me.”

“It just makes me feel like I’m not good enough,” she adds while wiping away tears as Olajuwon looks on.

Olajwon told Katina he needed to keep her ‘grounded’

While Katina and Olajuwon have plenty of chemistry, the pair have butted heads over what they expect from a marriage. Even before he walked down the aisle, Olajuwon told his friends and family he wanted a wife who would prepare home-cooked meals on a regular basis. But Katina isn’t much of a chef, much to his dismay.

During a tense conversation in the most recent episode of Married at First Sight, Olajuwon made it clear that it wasn’t just her lack of skills in the kitchen that had left him disappointed. He suggested she lacked “life experience” and pointed out that she hadn’t hit the same milestones he had, such as buying a home.

“When it comes to a marriage, some of these things are things that I expect to already be there. I’m trying to figure out if you have that base,” he said.

“I gotta be real with you,” he added. “I have to keep you grounded because I have to make sure that when I say yes on Decision Day, I know you can hold that s*** down.”

A visibly upset Katina eventually said she had to step away from the conversation.

“It just makes me feel bad,” she said as she wiped away tears during a confessional.

Olajwon’s comments clearly left Katina feeling vulnerable. That was especially notable given the way she’d opened up to her husband earlier in the episode about a bad past relationship.

After Olajuwon pointed out that she hadn’t even cried on their wedding day, she shared something about her past.

“My ex-boyfriend, right, I used to cry all the time,” she said. “All the time. But it got to the point where he was, like, verbally abusive toward me and when I would cry, he would be like, ‘Oh, you weak b****’ and stuff.”

“I just told myself I would never cry these same tears ever again,” she went on to say. “And ever since that relationship, I just trained myself not to cry. I don’t know. I guess I’m just kind of numb a little bit.”

New episodes of Married at First Sight Season 14 air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
