Selma Blair Obtains Restraining Order Against Boyfriend Ronald Carlson
New court documents give insight into actor Selma Blair’s relationship with her boyfriend, Ronald Carlson. The two dated for years, but now, Blair reportedly obtained a restraining order against Carlson. Here’s what’s going on.
Who is Selma Blair’s boyfriend, Ronald Carlson?
Cruel Intentions actor Selma Blair and boyfriend Ronald Carlson have a relationship spanning years. According to Daily Mail, the two first started dating from July 2017 to around January 2018. After a two-year split, they got back together in 2020 after Blair and her previous boyfriend, David Lyons, reportedly broke up. Blair and Carlson were then reportedly together well into 2022.
Not much is known about Carlson aside from his age. He’s around 52 years old while Blair is 49 years old. The photos obtained from Daily Mail show the couple walking during a lunch date in West Hollywood in April 2021. They both wore masks at the time due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to TMZ, Selma Blair has an order of protection against her boyfriend, Ronald Carlson. The publication obtained official documents that stated Blair and Carlson recently ended their long-term relationship. The documents then note that Carlson went to Blair’s home on Feb. 22, 2022, to drop off a television, and Blair was feeling ill from multiple sclerosis.
From there, the situation reportedly escalated. According to Blair, Carlson screamed, “You f***ed up, you can’t do anything, you can’t love anybody, you’re f***ing useless, you cripple. … I don’t f***ing deserve this, I can do so much better than you.”
Then, Blair says Carlson physically attacked her. He is accused of grabbing her and “strangl[ing] her, throttling her and shaking her head and shoulders aggressively” while she was on the sofa. She allegedly lost consciousness but attempted to fight him off. Police were called to the situation. Police arrested Carlson on suspicion of “felony domestic violence with corporal injuries.” Blair’s lawyers then went to court, and Carlson received a five-day restraining order to keep him away from Blair.

While Selma Blair’s boyfriend was issued a restraining order from the police, TMZ reports he’s fighting his own battle. Carlson allegedly filed a petition for a restraining order against Blair. According to Carlson, Blair became “angry and antagonistic” and hit him in his right eye. He then claims Blair attacked him further, resulting in scratches on his face.
Carlson denies attacking Blair and allegedly claims he reached out for her to defend himself. He also says her nose bleeds were an issue she was dealing with previously — and he has texts that allegedly prove it. TMZ says his petition for a restraining order has not yet been granted.
